As health professionals and community members, we know the power that family, physical and community health has on helping a kid grow happily. Our mission is to raise awareness and funds for two amazing organizations who exist to fund and support kids and their families.
Touchstone Family Association offers many different programs to enrich and support family life.
They know that enriched family lives encourage healthy neighborhoods and in turn creates stronger, more caring and responsive communities. The Front Porch Program is a barrier free program that aims to provide counselling and support services for families as they need them.
By providing barrier- free counselling and support without the bureaucratic red-tape often associated with government referrals, Touchstone is proactive in providing families with solutions to their issues before they become unmanageable.
KidSport™ Richmond identifies needs in the community, raises funds, and supports programs that create new opportunities for young people “So All Kids Can Play.
”The primary goal of all children’s sport programming is for each child to have fun and to want to play again next season. Children should feel there will always be a place for sport in their lives and that sport will always have a place for them. The KidSport™ Program has been created to help overcome financial obstacles preventing some young people from participating in organized sport.
Having had her eyes opened early on to all the wonders of the world and learning all the different philosophies, Anila knew that she wanted to travel and write her own story. She was convinced that the more people she met, the more different their stories were from hers, the more she would know herself. However, what Anila discovered was that we all share similar goals and dreams, and the way to know our own story is to be self-inquisitive. Her yoga mat is where she now journeys through all the parts of who she is, and breathes life into her balance. Whether Anila is teaching a public class or a teacher training, she is passionate about empowering each of her students to get on their own path of Yoga.
Anila currently teaches, mentors and trains for YYoga and Salt Spring Centre of Yoga. Anila is always reminded by her teachers and community of our sweet human quality, our unwavering ability to embody strength and softness. She is inspired by our quest to feel good, enjoy life, and learn some cool things along the way. She gets fired up by watching people have body, mind or spirit breakthroughs, loves sharing laughter, and her heart swells when another heart is troubled. Hearing Yogic, Philosophical and Meditative teachings through her sons’ perspective is a constant inspiration and a humbling reminder of our potential.

With a mission to empower women through health and fitness, Sophie could not be more excited to share her passion with the Richmond Community. Sophie believes everyone should feel comfortable and confident in their body, and hopes to inspire others to step outside their comfort zone, so they may uncover their true fitness potential.
Marco is the owner and head coach of CrossFit Overdrive in Richmond, BC. He has been passionate about sports and fitness his entire life. Growing up in a pro-academic family and culture, Marco always naturally leaned the other way towards being more physically active. He was labelled a 'super-jock' all throughout elementary and high school, playing on most sports teams including football, basketball, soccer, track and field, and volleyball. Marco also played a year of varsity football with the UBC T-Birds.
Marco always worked in the hospitality and hotel industry, but never lost sight of what really motivated his energy. What made him happy all the time was to workout and play sports. It was truly meant to be as one day while training a friend of his mentioned Crossfit to him. Marco then researched out the methodology and programming of Crossfit and really believed in it. After trying it out himself, he was convinced that this is something that he wanted to teach and share with others, and to make a difference in peoples lives
Marco opened Crossfit Overdrive in 2009, and currently is the only Crossfit affiliate in Richmond. Marco has really developed a passion for coaching, as he really enjoys seeing the success of his members, not only through their fitness growth, but also personal growth. Marco also builds his staff from within his community as all of his coaches started out as members first.
Outside of the gym, you'll often see Marco around town with his young family on their various adventures through malls and parks. When Marco does have spare time, you'll either find him playing sports or just relaxing watching a good movie.
